United States Conference of Mayors (USCM) and American Beverage Foundation for a Healthy America award Grant to Burnsville
In March 2021, the City of Burnsville, MN, was awarded a $125,000 first-place grant from the United States Conference of Mayors (USCM) and the American Beverage Foundation for a Healthy America, aimed at improving access to locally grown produce, open space, and physical activity among vulnerable residents. This grant was specifically designated for their Grow Burnsville program. It will pilot a “Food Forest,” a new approach for putting underutilized public land and rights-of-way to work as spaces to grow fruits and vegetables through sustainable permaculture.
