Producers of non-alcoholic refreshment beverages provide well paying jobs in Minnesota, pay significant tax dollars to the government and make sizable charitable contributions in communities across the state. This includes as many as 7,890 manufacturing and distribution jobs in companies producing such beverages as soft drinks, bottled water, 100% juice, juice drinks, sports drinks and more.
There are 67 manufacturing sites in Minnesota as well as 48 beverage wholesale facilities.
All told, in Minnesota over 22,100 people are directly employed by the beverage industry, earning as much as $796 million in wages In addition, firms that supply beverage producers, wholesalers and retailers employ 27,810 people earning $1,359 million in wages. The refreshment beverage industry generates an economic impact in Minnesota of $13.5 billion.
At the state and federal level, beverage industry firms in Minnesota, their employees, supplier firms and employees indirectly employed by the industry paid $795.0 million in taxes, with $342.3 million in state taxes alone.
The beverage industry and its employees are members of local communities throughout Minnesota who have generously contributed at least $21.4 million to charitable causes across the state.
